A special electric bus service dedicated to the safety and convenience of Delhi University (DU) students was relaunched in the capital on Thursday by its government.
The bus service, called U-Special bus service, will travel between 67 DU colleges and other educational institutions, operating across 25 routes and stopping at all important destinations like Metro stations.
At the launch, Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, said the resumption of the bus service was part of her government’s efforts to provide a student-friendly travel option, while it also "works seriously" to provide students with concessional passes in Metro trains.
Providing more information on the “zero pollution” e-buses, Delhi Transport Minister, Pankaj Singh, said all the U-Special buses were air conditioned, equipped with CCTV cameras and panic buttons for the safety of students.

“The students can also listen to their favourite songs in these buses using QR codes”, he added.
Gupta also said the number of buses will be increased gradually.
U-Special buses used to be a lifeline of the university, in which thousands of students commuted to their colleges, but the service was stopped, she noted.
