The Uttar Pradesh government has directed all state-run offices to include the 'Y-Break' yoga protocol in their daily routines as International Yoga Day approaches on June 21.

This action, guided by the Union Ministry of AYUSH, is part of a larger effort to improve workplace culture and wellness.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath leads this initiative, aiming to preserve India's rich yoga traditions and create a healthier, less stressful work environment in government offices, as stated in an official announcement.

By adding yoga breaks to the workday, the program hopes to boost employees' physical and mental well-being.

The "Y-Break" protocol is a short, structured yoga session meant for office workers.

It lasts five to ten minutes and includes deep breathing, mindfulness exercises, and gentle stretches for the neck, back, and waist. The goal is to reduce physical stiffness, ease mental fatigue, and enhance energy and focus.

Additionally, the state government plans to promote the use of digital resources developed by the Union Government, such as the Yoga Glossary, Y-Break App, Namaste Yoga App, and Yoga Calendar. Awareness campaigns will be launched to encourage employees and the public to use these platforms.

The administration under Yogi Adityanath also wants to take yoga beyond office spaces and into the wider community.

To achieve this, the government will collaborate with non-governmental organizations to connect certified yoga instructors who can conduct Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) workshops and online training sessions.

To encourage broader participation and ensure that yoga becomes a regular part of life for all residents of Uttar Pradesh, not just government employees, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will also be organized.
