India’s inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) has drawn over one lakh registrations for its Create in India Challenge (CIC) Season-1, with participation spanning more than 60 countries, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on Friday.
According to the official statement, the grand finale of CIC Season-1 will take place at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai from 1 to 4 May, as part of the maiden edition of the WAVES Summit.
“From this exceptional pool of talent, 750 finalists will be given the opportunity to showcase their creative skills and outcomes at Creatosphere – a specially curated platform featuring innovation across animation, comics, AI, XR, gaming, music and more, as part of WAVES 2025,” the statement read.
The ‘Creatosphere’ platform will host creators selected from a wide global pool, including 43 international finalists from 20 countries, such as Argentina, Germany, the United States, Greece, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan reviewed preparations for the Summit during his visit to the venue in Mumbai.
The high-profile finale will culminate with the WAVES Creator Awards on 2 May in a red carpet ceremony, celebrating the most innovative entries across all 32 challenges.
The competition has seen widespread national engagement, with creators participating from all 28 states and eight Union Territories of India. The demographic diversity of the initiative has also been notable, with the youngest finalist being just 12 years old, and the oldest aged 66.
The Ministry stated, “From making education accessible through the Innovate 2 Educate Challenge to reviving India’s textile legacy with ‘Make the World Wear Khadi’, the challenges span tradition and technology.”
The WAVES initiative seeks to foster a dynamic and inclusive platform for emerging talent in visual arts, digital innovation, and cultural storytelling.
