Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that proxy wars by terrorists will not work and bullets will be answered with cannon balls. Describing Operation Sindoor as the biggest and most successful anti-terror operation in the country’s history, the PM said ‘sindoor’ has become a symbol of valour following India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking at the Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan in Bhopal on the occasion of the legendary queen’s 300th birth anniversary, Modi termed India as a country of culture and traditions, and ‘sindoor’ as a symbol of women power in the Indian tradition. “Hanuman ji, who is immersed in Ram Bhakti, also sports ‘sindoor’. We offer ‘sindoor’ in Shakti Puja. Today, this ‘sindoor’ has become a symbol of our valour and resistance to terrorism. Terrorists tried to divide our society and challenged the women power of India. This challenge has sounded their death knell,” he observed.
PM inaugurates slew of projects
While in Bhopal, Modi virtually inaugurated the Super Priority Corridor of Indore Metro, Datia and Satna airports, and laid foundation stones of various developmental projects. He also transferred the first instalment of 1,271 new Atal Gram Seva Sadans (Panchayat Bhawans), built at Rs 483 crore, besides releasing a postal stamp and a Rs 300 commemorative coin dedicated to Ahilyabai Holkar. The Prime Minister praised Ahilyabai, describing her as the guardian of India’s heritage. She protected the country’s temples and pilgrimage sites when they were being attacked, he said.
Congress questions Modi for ‘choosing trade over nation’
The Congress on Saturday demanded answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on why he chose “trade” over the nation, after a top US administration official told a court that a trade deal was offered to broker the India-Pakistan ceasefire. In a post on X, Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala said while Trump has claimed 11 times that he brokered the “ceasefire”, Modi negated it not even once.
“Now, documentary evidence in the form of an affidavit is also available. The evidence is an affidavit US Secretary of Commerce Howard W Lutnick filed in the US Court of International Trade. This ceasefire was only achieved after President Trump interceded and offered both nations trading access with the US to avert a full-scale war,” he said.
