Neha Byadwal, a 25‑year‑old IAS officer, has recently garnered attention online for her unconventional UPSC preparation approach, which involved staying away from social media and mobile phone for nearly 3 years. Neha is currently posted in Gujarat and will turn 26 on 3 July 2025.

Originally from Jaipur and raised in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Byadwal cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her fourth attempt in 2021 with an All-India Rank of 569.

Neha, the daughter of a senior income tax officer and civil servant, decided to take the UPSC, the Civil Services Examination, walking the same road as her father. But at first, she encountered a lot of failures. She allegedly decided to stop using her phone and focus entirely on her studies after three setbacks.

For three years, she didn't use her phone and spent 17 to 18 hours a day studying. Neha's decision paid off when she achieved her goal of becoming an IAS officer, earning a 960 score overall.

What does Neha have to say about her success?

"Not going on a trip or not buying something isn't a sacrifice. When you return home after a long day at work and put in effort for your child, that is a sacrifice. Within 30 minutes of returning home from work, my father would take my classes - from Math to history", said the IAS officer.

"Journey teaches us hard work, perseverance, zeal, never say die attitude, and how to hold time and use it judiciously," IAS Neha further added.

Once her story went viral across social media, heartfelt messages flooded in - people expressed admiration for her dedication and commended her hard work.
