Following the BJP’s victory in the Delhi elections after over 26 years, party leaders in West Bengal are now aiming to topple Mamata Banerjee's government in the 2026 Assembly elections.

Despite supporting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal remained silent until Saturday afternoon about BJP’s significant win.

Sukanta Majumdar, BJP’s state president and Union minister, said the Delhi election results would inspire BJP workers in Bengal ahead of the 2026 elections. He expressed confidence that the people of Bengal would reject Mamata Banerjee’s TMC government.

“Inspired by Delhi’s outcome, people in Bengal will vote for BJP in 2026. The TMC will be rejected, and our grassroots workers will be motivated by this win,” Majumdar said. He also thanked the Bengali community in Delhi for their support.

Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, also praised the Delhi victory, calling it a clear mandate against AAP. He predicted that similar results would occur in Bengal’s 2026 elections.

“Delhi voters have rejected AAP. Now, Bengal’s voters will do the same for TMC in 2026,” Adhikari said at a rally in East Midnapore’s Mahishadal.

Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Delhi victory, Adhikari expressed his belief that Delhi would benefit from a "double-engine government" after AAP was ousted.

“Huge Victory for @BJP4Delh. Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji for leading this victory over ‘AAP-da.’ Now, the people of Delhi will enjoy the benefits of a double-engine government,” Adhikari posted on X.
