In the Bihar by-elections, Deepa Kumari of the NDA-affiliated Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) party won the Imamganj assembly seat.
The Election Commission of India reports that she won by 5,945 votes over her nearest rival, Raushan Kumar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Three additional seats—Tarai, Belaganj, and Ramgarh—also saw by-elections. Candidates from the NDA coalition lead their respective constituencies in these places.
The Election Commission of India’s website showed that Deepa Kumari, the daughter-in-law of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, received 53,435 votes, while Raushan Kumar got 47,490 votes.
Jitan Ram Manjhi, who previously represented the Imamganj seat, left it after winning a seat in the Lok Sabha for Gaya in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Vote counting for the four assembly constituencies began at 8 am under strict security.
These four seats became vacant when the MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha in the last general elections.
