Delhi CM assures support for blast victims,Cong demands 'clarity'

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday expressed her condolences over the blast near the Red Fort. She assured full support to victims of the blast and their families.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday expressed her condolences over the blast near the Red Fort. The chief minister called the incident unfortunate and assured that all relevant agencies are actively working to manage the situation. She assured full support to victims of the blast and their families.

 

She also mentioned visiting the hospital to meet the injured and reiterated the government’s support for their families, ensuring they do not face any hardships.Addressing a press conference, CM Rekha Gupta said, “It was an unfortunate incident. All the agencies are doing their work. We went to the hospital yesterday and met the injured persons. The government’s support is with them, and their family should not face any problems.”

 

 

Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday urged the government to provide clarity on the blast near the Red Fort saying there is fear and concern among the people that such a thing happened in the country’s capital.Congress’ media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said 18 hours have passed and still there is no clarity whether this was an “attack”.

 

“There is no clarity from the government, home ministry, Delhi Police. There is fear and concern among the people that such a thing happened in the country’s capital, so it is important to have answers and there should be clarity on it,” Khera said while speaking to an agency.“I don’t think that it is appropriate for the government to give out source-based information on such a serious matter. There should be a press conference by the home minister, home secretary or the Delhi Police commissioner, and share information that is needed,” he said.

 

“I understand all information cannot be shared due to security reasons but different theories should not be floated,”  Khera added.The Congress on Monday termed car explosion near the Red Fort “deeply distressing” and demanded a thorough and speedy investigation.

 

 

 

Former Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal called for an immediate investigation into how the explosion occurred.“The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. It is reported that some people have also lost their lives in it, which is extremely tragic. The police and government should immediately investigate how this explosion occurred and whether there is any larger conspiracy behind it. Negligence regarding Delhi’s security cannot be tolerated,” Kejriwal posted on X.
