Haryana debt soars to ₹5 lakh cr under BJP: Hooda

“This is why the state's economy is continuously deteriorating. Debt is skyrocketing, and no constructive work is being done. Haryana's economy is lagging behind on every parameter. This is the reason why the state, which had a debt of only Rs 70,000 crore from its formation until 2014, now has a debt of Rs 5 lakh crore,” he said.

Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda accuses BJP government of deceiving people through budgets, rising debt and lack of development

The state (BJP) government has always deceived the people of the state in the name of the budget, said Haryana’s former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Adding to this, he said that the Saini government repeatedly asks for suggestions from the opposition regarding the budget, but the BJP has never acted on any of them so far.

“Meanwhile, in the last 11 years, this government has neither established any major industry in Haryana, nor started any major project, nor built any major university or institution, nor extended the metro by even an inch, nor laid any new railway lines. The question is, where has the debt of lakhs of Crores of Rupees been spent?” he questioned while alleging that the state government had ‘squandered’ the hard-earned money of the people through scams, which the public is already aware of.

Clearly speaking, Hooda said that this time the opposition will rather react to the budget once it's presented and will not provide suggestions.

“When Manohar Lal was the Chief Minister and Finance Minister, he also asked for suggestions on the budget. The opposition gave its suggestions, but none of them were even mentioned in the budget. Now, the new Chief Minister is also resorting to event management instead of working and making decisions in the public interest,” he stated.

“If the government brings a budget that is in the interest of all sections of society, instead of playing politics, the opposition will also appreciate it. However, the Congress will continue to fight for the public's issues in the assembly,” he added.
