Sudhir Sharma who is one of the six MLAs who cross-voted in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in Himachal Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha elections has been removed from his post of secretary on Wednesday.
In a release, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said the party Chief Mallikarjun Kharge has terminated Sharma from the post of secretary with immediate effect.
Sharma is a senior leader from Dharamshala and a former Himachal Pradesh minister. He was recently disqualified as an MLA for defying a party whip.
Meanwhile, the lotus party blamed the ruling Congress administration of Himachal Pradesh for misusing the police and government against the grand old party's independent MLAs who voted for BJP's Harsh Mahajan in the recent Rajya Sabha polls which resulted in political turmoil in the state.
Raiding the houses and business outlets of MLAs, taking various actions against them and people associated with them, sending people to instigate fights, and creating an atmosphere of fear in the entire state is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, the BJP State President Rajiv Bindal stated.
Congress has murdered democracy by suspending 15 BJP MLAs to pave the way for unjustly passing the budget and disqualifying six Congress MLAs who cross-voted for the BJP in Rajya Sabha elections, Bindal added.
