The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday announced a list of 40-star campaigners for the upcoming June 19 bypoll for the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency.
Notably, several Punjab cabinet ministers such as Aman Arora, Harjot Singh Bains, Harpal Singh Cheema, Balbir Singh, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Harbhajan Singh ETO, and Dr Balbir Singh also feature prominently on the list.According to the official letter submitted to the Election Commission, the list includes former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, and senior leaders like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and former Delhi CM Atishi.
Other key names include Raghav Chadha, Sunita Kejriwal, Rakhi Bidlan, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal, and Satyender Jain, among others. Several MLAs and party leaders from across the state, including Ashok Mittal and Malvinder Singh Kang, have also been enlisted.
The party has also included public figures such as Sonia Mann to strengthen its grassroots outreach and bolster voter connect.
Punjab ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Harjot Singh Bains, Harbhajan Singh Lal Chand Kataruchak, Baljit Kaur, Balbir Singh, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Barinder Kumar Goyal, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Mohinder Bhagat, Ravjot Singh, and Hardeep Singh Mundian, have also been named star campaigners.
Lok Sabha MPs Malvinder Singh Kang, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, and Rajkumar Chabbewal are also in the list, and so is Baljinder Kaur.Besides these names, former Delhi ministers Satyendra Jain and Rakhi Birla are the other star campaigners. Punjab AAP MLAs Jeewan Singh Sangowal, Ashok Parashar Pappi, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Daljit Singh Grewal, Madan Lal Bagga and Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, along with party functionary Sonia Mann and Punjab working president Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi, are also on the list.
The bypoll will take place on June 19, and counting on June 23. While the counting of votes is scheduled for June 23, entire election process will conclude by June 25. The seat fell vacant following the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi in January.
