Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting with AICC general secretaries, state in-charges, and heads of the party’s frontal organisations to finalise plans for a nationwide campaign against alleged voter list manipulation and election fraud.
The meeting, held at the AICC headquarters, was attended by senior leaders including Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot, KC Venugopal, Kumari Selja, and several other prominent figures.
Earlier in the day, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest march from its Delhi headquarters to Jantar Mantar, targeting the Election Commission over alleged voter list tampering. The demonstration came in the wake of repeated accusations by Rahul Gandhi, who has accused the poll body of “vote chori” (vote theft).
Youth Congress activists also held a parallel ‘Halla Bol March’ in the national capital. Several protesters were detained by Delhi Police during the demonstration. Continuing his attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), Rahul Gandhi reiterated his “vote theft” allegations, accusing the ECI of failing to uphold its constitutional responsibilities. He asserted that the Congress is determined to defend the Constitution, specifically the principle of “One Man, One Vote,” which he described as its very foundation.
“It is the duty of the Election Commission to enforce the ‘One Man, One Vote’ principle, but they have failed in their duty. We are protecting the Constitution, and we will keep doing it,” Rahul Gandhi said. The day also saw Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Kharge joining INDIA bloc MPs in a protest inside Parliament against the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls. Many opposition MPs participated wearing white T-shirts with the slogan “124 Not Out” printed on them.

CPI(M) MP P Sandosh Kumar said the opposition was united in escalating its campaign against alleged irregularities in the voter list. “INDIA bloc leaders are more energised, and this has become an all-India campaign. We will intensify our fight. There is greater unity among coalition partners now, and this will be a huge fight to save democracy,” he stated.
Prominent opposition leaders, including NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule and DMK MP Kanimozhi, were also seen holding onions during the protest, a symbolic gesture highlighting public grievances. A day earlier, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and several INDIA bloc MPs were detained by Delhi Police while marching from Parliament to the Election Commission’s office in protest against alleged voter list irregularities in Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi emphasised that the Opposition’s movement was not about electoral politics but about safeguarding the Constitution and democratic principles.
