As the political bickering over electoral revision between the two rivals goes on unabatedly,  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Praveen Khandelwal on Saturday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of "misleading the people of India" with his allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Khandelwal said that the ECI acted within its powers and the Supreme Court had already upheld this authority. The BJP leader stressed that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha's remarks were politically motivated and had no legal basis. Speaking to a news agency Khandelwal said, "...What the Election Commission did was within its jurisdiction. The Supreme Court has clarified this not once but twice. Rahul Gandhi is engaged in misleading not only Bihar but the entire country on this issue for his own political gains..."

Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has launched an all-out offensive against the poll body EC, alleging massive irregularities in the polling at Karnataka's Mahadevapura in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He has accused the poll body of colluding with the BJP to ensure the ruling party's victory. In its response, the poll body said the concept of "One Person, One Vote" has been written into Indian election law since the country's first general elections.

"If anyone has any proof of any person actually voting twice in any election, it should be shared with ECI with a written affidavit rather than colouring all the electors of India as 'chor' without any proof". EC has snubbed Rahul saying he is choosing to use very dirty word (Chor) which does not behove well of his stature and position in the Parliament .

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' across Bihar will cover more than 20 districts, spanning 1,300 kilometres over 16 days. The Voter Adhikaar Yatra is a campaign led by Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders to raise awareness about voter rights and protest against alleged "vote theft" and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

In a social media post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "'16 days 20+ districts 1,300+ km We are coming among the people with the Voter Adhikaar Yatra. This is the fight to protect the most fundamental democratic right - 'one person, one vote.' Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution." As per the schedule shared by the Congress MP himself, the 'Vote Adhikaar Yatra' will kickstart from Sasaram district of the state on August 17 and will conclude in the state's capital city, Patna, on September 1.
