The Pakistan Cricket Board has released its squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Meanwhile, the Indian team's squad announcement is scheduled for August 19, with the tournament set to begin on September 9.
Suryakumar Yadav, who has successfully cleared a recent fitness test, is confirmed to lead the Indian side as captain. It is widely anticipated that eleven players have secured their places, with four additional contenders vying for the remaining spots in the final 15-member squad.
The Indian team will start its Asia Cup campaign on September 10 against the UAE. A highly anticipated match with arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for September 14. The Pakistan squad, which has already been announced, notably does not include key players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. All focus is now on the composition of the Indian squad.

Based on current team dynamics, certain players are considered locks for the squad. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are expected to be the certainties for the opening positions. For the middle order, Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav are strong contenders. The all-rounder slots are likely to be filled by Akshar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube.
In the spinning department, Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi are the frontrunners. As for the pace attack, Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his availability for selection, making him and Arshdeep Singh sure-shot inclusions.

In addition to the eleven certainties, the selectors are expected to consider four other strong contenders to complete the 15-member squad. Yashasvi Jaiswal is a probable choice as a backup opener. One excellent contender for the position of second wicketkeeper is Jitesh Sharma. Mohammed Siraj is a promising young player to support the fast-bowling unit, and Shreyas Iyer is a serious candidate for a second batting spot.
