The country united hailing stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, fans and experts were found on the same note, cheering for the Indian team on the first day of Border Gavaskar Trophy in Optus Stadium, Perth, Australia.
One of them was Bumrah's wife Sanjana Ganesan, who took it to social media platform Instagram and uploaded a story praising her husband’s performance in today’s match however, in a unique way.
Her cheeky and quirky post read, “Great bowler, even greater booty.”
India bounced back on the Perth field for the first Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy. The stand-in Captain Jasprit Bumrah showed his class by taking four wickets including one of Australian captain Pat Cummins and saved the day 1 at 67/7 for the rivals when Indian batting didn't do much.
Bumrah’s triple strike also included Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith. Overall the day saw 17 wickets falling, most that have fallen on a single day in Australia.
The pitch played its part, providing enough movement from the beginning, as all the wickets fell to seamers. The movement got better with time as the ball swung, both ways.
Earlier in the day, India after opting to bat first were ruled out at mere 150 for all. Australia bowler Josh Hazlewood led the wickets charts with four- wicket haul, including that of Virat Kohli.
Responding to Australia’s attack, Bumrah did its part, followed by Harshit Rana who took Travis Head’s wicket and Mohammad Siraj continued with their spell.
India, finally, ended the day by being on top.
