India produced an unprecedented show of dominance at the Asian Shooting Championships 2025 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, concluding the event with a record haul of 99 medals, including 50 golds, marking the nation’s most successful campaign at the continental meet. The total represents an increase of 35 medals compared with India’s performance at the 15th Asian Championships in Changwon, South Korea.
On the final day, Ankur Mittal etched his name in the record books by claiming gold in the men’s double trap event. The Olympic-bound shooter scored 107 hits across four rounds, comfortably ahead of Kazakhstan’s Artyom Chikulayev (98) and Kuwait’s Ahmad Alaffasi (96).
“Bhanu Pratap Singh, Harshvardhan Kaviya and I are thrilled to win the team bronze in the double trap,” said Mittal, highlighting India’s sustained excellence in shotgun events.
In the 25m centre fire pistol, Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu rose to prominence with an individual gold, registering 583 points to surpass South Korea’s Lee Jaekyoon (580) and Iran’s Javad Foroughi (579). Olympian Gurpreet Singh narrowly missed a medal, placing fourth with 579. Together, Sandhu, Singh, and Ankur Goel amassed 1,733 points to secure the team gold, ahead of Vietnam and Iran.
The women’s 50m rifle prone saw Manini Kaushik secure a bronze with a total of 617.8, narrowly behind South Korea’s Im Hana and Lee Eunseo. Kaushik, alongside Surabhi Bhardwaj and Vidarsa Vinod, added a team silver to India’s tally.
India also dominated the women’s double trap, sweeping the podium with Anushka Singh Bhati taking gold (93), Rajkuwar Pranil Ingle silver (89), and Yeshaya Hafiz Contractor bronze (87). The team event followed suit with India claiming gold.

The championships also witnessed a flurry of medals across pistol, rifle, trap, skeet, and junior categories. Notable achievements included:
- 10m Air Pistol: Silver (men’s team), Bronze (women’s individual), Bronze (women’s team), Bronze (mixed team).
- 25m Rapid Fire Pistol: Silver for Anish Bhanwala (individual) and team.
- 50m Rifle 3 Positions: Golds for Sift Kaur Samra (individual & team) and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (men’s individual), Silver for Tomar’s team.
- Trap & Skeet: Golds for Neeru Dhanda (women), Anantjeet Singh Naruka (men), and team medals in both events.
Junior and youth shooters continued India’s dominance. Kapil Bainsla, Rashmika Sahgal, Kanak Budhwar, Abhinav Shaw, and Sabeera Haris were among several standout performers, contributing multiple golds across air pistol, air rifle, trap, and team events.
