Two of India’s most decorated teenage golfers, Mahreen Bhatia and Arshvant Srivastava, will spearhead the Indian challenge at this week’s US Kids World Teen Championship at the iconic Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The US Kids India contingent this year comprises six players for the annual World Teens event, featuring two in the Boys 15-18 category and four in the Girls 15-18 category. All players bring valuable experience from domestic and international tournaments.

Mahreen, who was runner-up in 2023 and finished third at the 2024 edition, is aiming for the top spot this time.

Over the past year, she has won the 2024 Shubhankar Sharma Invitationals, was second at the Tommy Fleetwood International Pathway Series Presented by DP World, and claimed victory at the FCG Callaway World Juniors in the United States in July last year. She was also among the Top-5 at the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.

Arshvant, who has been active on the US Kids circuit for several years, has two notable wins on the domestic circuit this season — at the NCR Cup Juniors and the Greens to Glory event — and was runner-up at the US Kids Indian Championship.

This year, he has also posted Top-5 finishes at US Kids events in China and Thailand, as well as the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, and was seventh at the US Kids UAE.

Vihaan Jain, who was T-13 alongside Arshvant at the 2024 US Kids World Teens, returns to the field. Asara Sawhney was T-7 at the same edition, while Anushka Gupta and Ayesha Gupta are also part of the promising Indian line-up.

The week after the World Teen Championship, India will field a 14-member squad at the US Kids event for ages six and above, which will also be held at Pinehurst.

The Indian team for this week: Boys — Arshvant Srivastava (Boys 15-18), Vihaan Jain (Boys 15-18); Girls — Anushka Gupta (Girls 13), Mahreen Bhatia (Girls 15-18), Ayesha Gupta (Girls 15-18), and Asara Sawhney (Girls 15-18, Delhi).
