"It would be an honour to host you in the crown of Incredible India," J&K's Tourism Department messaged the Indian T20 World Cup champions on its official X handle.

Jammu and Kashmir's tourism department has invited the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team to visit the Union Territory as part of victory celebrations.

The team will be given a guard of honour and felicitated for their victory. If the team accepts the invitation, the visit is expected to generate a lot of buzz in the region. Kashmir has recently witnessed transformative positive changes.

"Congratulations to Team India on winning the T20 World Cup 2024!! We welcome our champions to visit Jammu and Kashmir to continue the celebrations!

"It would be an honour to host you in the crown of Incredible India," the department posted on its official X handle.

India claimed the T20 World Cup title after a 17-year hiatus, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29.

India, batting first, posted a total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with Virat Kohli scoring a crucial 76 in the high-pressure game.

South Africa, in their chase, fell short by seven runs. Kohli was named player of the match for his match-winning performance.

The invitation from the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department received a positive response on social media.

Senior officials, including Shah Faesal, IAS topper, and Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud Din Bhat, expressed excitement about hosting Team India.

India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 ended an 11-year trophy drought.

Additionally, Captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from T20 cricket, signalling the end of an era in the shorter format of the game.
