Tyler Herro delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 30 points, as the Miami Heat cruised to a commanding 118-95 victory over the struggling Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
Alec Burks added 20 points, helping the Heat secure their fourth consecutive win as they opened a three-game road trip in style.
Miami’s long-range shooting proved decisive, with the team sinking 20 of their 43 three-point attempts. Burks made six from beyond the arc, Herro contributed five, and Haywood Highsmith added three off the bench on his way to 13 points.
Kel'el Ware also played a key role for the Heat, making all six of his field goal attempts to finish with 13 points, along with an impressive 14 rebounds.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, continued their downward spiral, suffering their seventh consecutive defeat.
Jared Butler led the team with 19 points and 10 assists, while Justin Edwards contributed 17 points.
Adem Bona posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but their efforts were not enough to keep pace with Miami’s relentless attack.
The Heat set the tone early, taking a 34-29 lead after the first quarter, thanks to 10 early points from Herro. He remained in top form in the second period, adding five more points in the first three minutes to extend Miami’s advantage into double figures.
Philadelphia fought back, closing the gap to 54-52 with around three minutes left in the first half. However, Miami responded well, stretching their lead back to 62-53 by the break.
The third quarter saw the Heat take complete control, outscoring the 76ers 34-22. Burks was instrumental in this run, hitting four three-pointers in the period, while Bam Adebayo also contributed significantly.
Miami held a modest 72-69 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the quarter before going on a game-defining 24-6 run. Highsmith started the surge with a three-pointer, followed by two more from Burks, pushing the lead to 83-71.
Adebayo then joined in with a three-pointer of his own, and Burks capped off the quarter with a buzzer-beating shot to send the Heat into the final period with a dominant 93-75 advantage.
Herro continued his stellar play in the fourth quarter, sinking two more three-pointers in the opening six minutes as Miami coasted to a comfortable win.
