1 dead, many hurt in cylinder blast at Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the government would cover the full cost of medical treatment for all the injured. Instructions have also been given to rebuild the damaged houses.

Rescue operations continue at the blast site of Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden.


Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the family of the one who died in a suspected cylinder blast. The incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mubarak. Nine other people were injured. Six houses were also damaged in the blast.

The Chief Minister visited the site. He was accompanied by the Bengaluru city Police Commissioner and other officials. He announced that the government would cover the full cost of medical treatment for all the injured. Instructions have also been given to rebuild the damaged houses.

“There is a suspicion that it might have been a cylinder blast,” Siddaramaiah said. He noted that several houses in the building complex had collapsed. He confirmed that the injured are currently being treated in various hospitals. Some have severe burns. The government will ensure their care. The neighbouring houses were also damaged in the incident. He reiterated that the exact cause is not yet known.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh also provided an update. He stated that the local police were alerted to the blast around 8:30 am. A team, including the DCP and Joint Commissioner, was immediately dispatched. The commissioner reported that about 7-8 houses were completely damaged. Another 7-8 houses sustained partial damage.

Commissioner Singh said, “In this unfortunate incident, one child has died and 9 others are injured among which one appears to be serious. Treatment is going on in 5 different hospitals. Right now, we have immediately called the Bomb Detection Team, the Fire team, SDRF, Forensic Team, and our local police are all working here. They are trying to remove the debris so that we see that nobody else is stuck there.”
