The district administration in South Kashmir’s Anantnag has intensified its crackdown on drug peddlers by demolishing 15 illegal structures during a major enforcement drive at Waghama in Bijbehara on Saturday.
According to officials, the properties were built using proceeds from the drug trade. The action was taken under the ongoing 100-Day intensified Nasha Mukt J&K campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha last month.
In a joint operation, revenue authorities along with local police demolished 15 shops illegally constructed on State and Kahcharai land under Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min) in Estate Waghama.
These structures were allegedly linked to individuals involved in the narcotics trade under the NDPS Act.
The operation also resulted in the retrieval of encroached public land, marking a significant step towards reclaiming government property from illegal occupation.
Reaffirming its zero tolerance policy towards drugs, the administration stated that strict action will continue against those involved in drug trafficking and illegal encroachments throughout the campaign.
Authorities described the demolition of assets funded by drug money as a key strategy to disrupt the narcotics supply chain in the district.
The administration has warned that anyone found involved in drug-related activities or illegal encroachments will face stringent legal consequences.
