193 Agniveer recruits join Army’s Ladakh Scouts

A total of 193 Agniveer recruits were inducted into the Ladakh Scouts regiment of the Army at a passing out parade on Wednesday, a defence spokesperson said. The ceremony marked their formal entry into one of the Army’s most respected units.

 

The passing out parade took place at the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre in Leh. It was attended by senior Army officers, civil dignitaries and proud parents who had travelled to watch their wards complete their training, the spokesperson said.

 

The reviewing officer congratulated the young Agniveers for putting up an impressive parade. He urged them to dedicate their lives to serving the nation as committed and disciplined soldiers of the Army, the spokesperson added.

 

He also thanked the parents for encouraging their children to join the regiment. He praised the Ladakh Scouts for their strong performance in all areas and their exceptional courage and sacrifice while protecting the sovereignty of Ladakh.

 

The officer further told the new soldiers to keep working hard and aim for excellence. He asked them to take a pledge to defend the country’s sovereignty under all circumstances, in keeping with the values and ethos of the Indian Army, the spokesperson said.

 

Seven Agniveers received medals for their outstanding performance during the training period, he added. The spokesperson said the Gaurav Padak was also presented to the parents of the new Agniveers. It was a proud moment for families who had come from distant places to witness the grand ceremony and celebrate the achievement of their children.
