The Mumbai police arrested a man from Akola on late Sunday in connection with the murder of veteran Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique. The accused, Salmanbhai Iqbalbhai Vohra, is said to have provided financial aid to the shooters who killed Siddique.

Vohra, a resident of Gujarat, was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch with the help of local police. According to the police, Vohra opened a bank account in May this year and used it to send money to Nareshkumar Singh, the brother of one of the arrested suspects, Gurmail Singh, as well as to Rupesh Mohol and Harishkumar.

Vohra also supported others involved in the crime.

Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan’s office on October 12. The killers were reportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Two of the three shooters—Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharmaraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh—were arrested shortly after the murder.

Siddique, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was allegedly targeted due to his close relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

The police recently arrested Shivkumar Gautam, the suspected main shooter, from Uttar Pradesh. Investigations revealed that after the murder, Gautam changed his clothes and waited in a crowd outside Lilavati hospital for 30 minutes to ensure that Siddique had died.
