Cybercrime is on the rise in Patna, alongside other criminal activities. However, the police are actively cracking down on cybercriminals and assuring citizens of crime control measures.
In a recent operation, Patna Police arrested five cyber fraudsters in a raid conducted in the Patna City area. Several ATM cards, PAN cards, bank passbooks, mobile phones, and other incriminating materials were seized from the accused.
Patna City DSP-2 Kumar Gaurav stated that the Haryana Police had provided intelligence regarding the operations of a cyber fraud gang operating from Patna.
Acting on this information, a police team was assembled, and a raid was carried out, leading to the arrest of five cybercriminals. The police recovered numerous ATM cards, bank passbooks, PAN cards, and mobile phones from their possession.
According to the DSP, the arrested individuals lured people into handing over their bank passbooks in exchange for money. These accounts were then used to deposit funds obtained through fraudulent activities. The gang was based in the Maharani Bagh area of Patna City, where they targeted innocent people with elaborate scams.
Further investigations are underway, and police are conducting raids to apprehend other members of the cyber fraud network based on information provided by the arrested individuals.
