9 dead, over 10 hurt after mango-laden lorry overturns in Andhra

Nine individuals died and eleven others were injured when a lorry loaded with mangoes overturned on a mini truck near Reddycheruvu in Annamayya district, police reported on Monday. Over 10 people have sustained injuries.

 

More than 20 individuals were travelling on top of the Mango-laden truck.

 

The incident happened late on Sunday night, a police official added. "This happened when the rear wheel of the lorry got stuck in sand and lost balance and fell on a mini-truck," the police official added.

A case was registered at Pullampet police station under relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicle (MV) Act. The police launched an investigation. The survivors allege negligence on the part of the driver.

 

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condoled the deaths and sought a report from officials regarding the reason behind the accident, according to media reports. He directed officials to ensure quality medical care for the injured persons.
