Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said the Modi government does not tolerate the scourge of terrorism nor those indulging in it, stating all the active terrorists in the region of Jammu and Kashmir will either be in prison or meet the end.

Rai made these remarks in response to queries in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the government’s commitment to putting an end to terrorist activities in the region.

Rai added that recent terrorist activities will soon be curtailed as "they (the terrorists) will not succeed in their design."

He further informed that 28 terrorists have been killed in the past few days, adding that some security personnel have also lost their lives, terming it "very unfortunate."

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, security forces have managed to kill nearly 900 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, Rai added.

He also provided figures regarding the incidents of terrorism during the UPA and BJP tenures and how they have significantly gone down since 2014.

“Modi government has zero tolerance towards terrorism. We will smash terrorism. They (terrorists) will be either in jail or Jahannum. I want to assure the House," he said.

Rai also discussed the improvements in the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir post-abrogation of Article 370.

He highlighted unprecedented growth in tourist visits, with numbers increasing from 34.7 lakh in 2020 to over 2.11 crore last year. This year, up till June, more than 1.08 crore tourists have already visited the Union Territory.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken several measures to boost the tourism sector, including the notification of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Policy 2020 and the Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Policy 2021, which grants tourism industry status.
