In the middle of a controversy surrounding 'PDA pathshala', Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday insisted that the pathshala cannot be shut down by the police and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should pay a visit to observe the conditions.

Talking to the media, Yadav insisted that his party will keep educating students until new teachers are hired for schools shut or merged by the state government.

"PDA pathshala cannot be prevented by the police. The CM himself has to go to the pathshala and witness the situation. The government has itself admitted that many schools have been closed and some of them have been merged… SP cadre will educate children until new teachers are appointed in those schools…," the SP chief declared.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary strongly criticised SP for lessons being imparted in its 'PDA pathshala' and accused them of indulging in nepotism, stating that it still remains fundamental to the party.

He alleged that the SP was attempting to "tamper" with the future of children.

"When SP was in power, they played with children’s future, and they are even continuing to do it now. In order to serve their political interests, the SP can stoop so low that they can educate children, 'A for 'Akhilesh' and D for 'Dimple.' Their school is nothing but nepotism. They cannot go beyond their family," Chaudhary said to the media.

SP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav on Monday morning lashed out at the FIR against his party worker Farhad Alam for politicising English alphabets in 'PDA Pathshala', and termed it as an offshoot of "ignorant people" and those who have a "petty mindset".

Justifying the lessons learned in the SP's PDA Pathshala, Yadav questioned, "If we teach 'A for Akhilesh', 'B for Babasaheb', what is wrong with it?"

"When ignorant people and petty-minded people occupy power in Uttar Pradesh, such things keep occurring daily." Bacche jisse kisi shabd ko sikh jaye, padhane ka vahi tarika sabse accha hota hai (The best way of educating children is using means through which children can learn with ease). They are not being educated in a government school. FIR will be lodged against those who have registered the FIR for abusing their rights," said Yadav.
