A five-year-old student from Kanpur has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Allahabad High Court, seeking the removal of a liquor shop operating near his school. This bold move has garnered attention for its unique perspective on a local issue.
On Friday, the High Court directed the state government counsel to solicit a response from the relevant authorities regarding the renewal of the liquor shop's license, particularly in light of the school's establishment in the vicinity.
A division bench comprising Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Kshitij Shailendra instructed for the PIL to be listed for the next hearing on March 13.
The young petitioner, a student at a private school in Kanpur's Azad Nagar, alleges that the liquor shop creates a nuisance due to disruptive behavior from intoxicated individuals. This, he argues, in his PIL, affects both the learning environment and the overall safety of students.
