Andhra Pradesh has clinched the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award – 2025 for the fourth consecutive year, securing the first prize in the Group II category. The recognition is for the state's sustained, progressive rise in energy conservation and efficiency.
Chief Secretary K Vijayanand said that the southern state demonstrated unwavering commitment across key sectors, including: buildings, industry, municipal services, agriculture, DISCOMs (Distribution Companies) and transport.
"Andhra Pradesh has once again reaffirmed its national leadership in energy efficiency by winning the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award for the fourth consecutive year," Vijayanand said in an official release.
The Chief Secretary attributed the success to the "synergistic cooperation" of all government departments, consumers, and stakeholders. Measures included the establishment of Energy Conservation Cells with nodal officers in different sectors.
The success factors in the state are with initiatives such as the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024–29), putting time into targeted programs in the household, industry, agriculture, and construction sectors.
The award would be conferred on Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on National Energy Conservation Day, that is, on December 14, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
The Chief Executive of APSECM, S. Nagalakshmi, has stated that there would be an extension of outreach activities involving departments, students, industries, and other stakeholders to harness the potential of energy saving in the state.
