Chilkalguda Police have registered a case regarding the incident.

A 38-year-old female doctor from the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh reportedly died by suicide at her flat in Hyderabad. A police official said that the cause appeared to be depression stemming from the rejection of her US visa application.

The tragic incident came to light on November 22 when family members, who reside in a different part of the city, forced open the door after receiving no response and discovered her deceased. The domestic help had alerted the family of the deceased, identified as Dr Rohini, when she failed to open the door on Sunday.

The official, providing preliminary information, indicated that the doctor is suspected to have taken an overdose of sleeping pills or injected herself on Friday night. The precise cause of death remains unconfirmed, with authorities awaiting the post-mortem examination report.

A suicide note was recovered from the flat, which purportedly stated that she was suffering from depression and mentioned the rejection of her visa application. Chilkalguda Police have registered a case regarding the incident.

Lakshmi, the deceased doctor's mother, told the media that her daughter had been eagerly anticipating a move to the US for a job opportunity but became deeply depressed following the denial of her visa.

Rohini had been residing in Padma Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, due to the proximity of libraries, as she intended to specialise in internal medicine.

"She was a brilliant student and had completed her MBBS in Kyrgyzstan between 2005 and 2010. Her academic record was excellent, and she had big dreams for her future," Lakshmi stated.

Lakshmi recalled advising Rohini to remain and practice medicine in India, but her daughter had countered that patient numbers per day were limited in the US and the income was superior. Her mother added that Rohini, who was not married and had fully devoted herself to her medical career, had seen her struggle with disappointment and depression intensify in recent weeks while awaiting the visa approval that never materialised, leaving her mentally exhausted and isolated.
