Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday launched coordinated cordon and search operations (CASO) across nearly two dozen hotspots in the district, officials said. The operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug syndicates operating in Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on its social media handle on X shared that teams are conducting synchronised anti-drug raids with the assistance of K9 (dog) squads to trace and recover narcotics and other psychotropic substances.
Officials said a detailed survey of illegal properties linked to drug networks is also under consideration, which may be attached under various provisions of the NDPS Act.
The operation is part of an intensified drive against drug trafficking under the campaign #DrugFreeAnantnag, aimed at dismantling the financial and operational structure of narcotics networks in the district.
In recent weeks, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security agencies, have caught dozens of drug peddlers and members of syndicates across the Valley to curb the narcotics trade. Raids targeting residences and suspected locations in north, south and central Kashmir have been carried out by the police.
LG Manoj Sinha is personally leading the war against drugs in the Union Territory. He has given authorities a free hand to crack down on drug syndicates in J&K, leading to the arrest of several dozen peddlers.
