In a significant development along the India-Pakistan border, families of soldiers stationed in sensitive areas have been sent back to their native places as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, recently retired soldiers have reportedly been advised to stay ready for potential deployment.

The move comes amid heightened tensions in border regions, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Sources reveal that commanding officers have directed troops to ensure the safety of their families by sending them home for security reasons.

The wife of a soldier posted in the Jammu region described the current atmosphere as “scary,” noting that Pakistani forces were allegedly attempting to target military zones. Another woman, whose husband has been in service for eight years, said this was the first time she had witnessed such a tense situation. She added that their base was located merely six to seven kilometres from the border.

The developments have evoked strong emotions among the families, with many expressing a desire for a decisive end to hostilities. “Infiltration has become a routine affair,” one woman said, “and it’s time it is put to a stop once and for all.”

Hamirpur, a district historically known for producing a large number of soldiers for the Indian Army, continues to uphold its legacy as many families there remain connected to the defence services. The latest measures reflect growing caution in the face of rising cross-border tensions.
