An army driver and three civilians were injured on Monday during a road crash in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the official said. In a handout to reporters, the army said its vehicle was involved in a road accident today on the Poonch Surankote route.
Unfortunately, the incident resulted in injuries to three civilians and one Army driver, adding all injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
The spokesman further stated that the Army is extending full support for the treatment and care of the injured civilians. A formal investigation is already underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
While road accidents can happen with any vehicle—military or civilian—we recognise the need for utmost caution. The Army is committed to taking all necessary steps to prevent such occurrences in the future. Appropriate action will be taken as per the law of the land, he said. We request the public to avoid speculation and await verified updates, reads the statement.
Earlier on May 16, at least one person lost his life while another suffered injuries when their vehicle rolled down a gorge in the Mendhar area of the Poonch district.
Officials told reporters that a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK12B-5756 lost control and rolled down, resulting in the spot death of a person and injury to another.
The deceased was later identified as Mohd Yasir Khan (27), son of Munshi Khan, Resident of Pathanaterer, while the injured was identified as Shah Mir Hussain, son of Arif Hussain Shah.
