In a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, Silluk village, located in the scenic Mebo subdivision of East Siang district, has been nationally recognised for its outstanding waste management and environmental practices. The village has been featured in the Class III Environmental Studies (EVS) textbook published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), under Chapter 12.
This recognition places Silluk on India’s map as a model village highlighting what disciplined community efforts can achieve. Silluk’s practices have now become an educational reference for students across India. Reacting to the development, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bosiram Siram issued a statement congratulating the people of Silluk and calling it a moment of immense pride for all Arunachalees.
"The whole of India is going to know Silluk Village," Siram declared, praising the village’s commitment to civic responsibility, environmental consciousness and community-led action.
