Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh was sworn in on Monday as the 19th Governor of Haryana. The oath of office was administered by Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, at a simple and dignified ceremony held at Haryana Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh.
Prof. Ghosh is a respected academic and seasoned political leader. He served as the Head of the Political Science Department at a well-known college in Kolkata for nearly 40 years. He has made significant contributions to research and political thought through his work on UGC and ICSSR projects, and has written several articles published in leading journals.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by many dignitaries, including Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Also present were the Governor’s wife, Mitra Ghosh, the Chief Minister’s wife, Suman Saini, and members of the Governor’s family.
Other prominent attendees included Speaker of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Harvinder Kalyan, Cabinet Ministers Krishan Lal Panwar, Mahipal Dhanda, Dr. Arvind Sharma, Shyam Singh Rana, Ranbir Gangwa, Krishna Kumar Bedi, and Shruti Chaudhary, as well as Ministers of State Rajesh Nagar and Gaurav Gautam.
Senior officials such as Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and Secretary to Governor Atul Dwivedi, along with MLAs, university vice-chancellors, and senior bureaucrats, were also present.
After the ceremony, Governor Ghosh greeted the guests and received their good wishes. On this occasion, a Special Contingent of the Haryana Armed Police presented a Guard of Honour to the new Governor.
