The flood situation in Assam has seen notable improvement, with the number of affected individuals reducing to 95,000 across 11 districts, according to the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The current deluge has claimed 98 lives, while the overall death toll, including floods, landslides, storms, and lightning, stands at 113. Affected individuals are spread across 345 villages in 21 revenue circles.
The most severely impacted district is Nagaon, with 70,280 affected residents, followed by Golaghat with 12,321, and Cachar with 6,773.
Other affected districts include Morigaon, Kamrup, Dhemaji, Kamrup Metropolitan, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Golaghat, Goalpara, Jorhat, and Cachar.
As of Saturday, the number of affected individuals had been 1.30 lakh across 10 districts.
Floodwaters have inundated croplands over 6,467.5 hectares, and 6,311 people are currently sheltered in 35 relief camps.
The Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger mark in Dhubri, while in other affected areas, water levels are receding and below the danger threshold.
Assam has experienced two waves of flooding this year: the first from May 28 to June 13, and the second wave starting June 16.
