Tension escalated at the Hyderabad office of Mahaa TV after some alleged supporters of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) entered the newsroom and reportedly attacked employees. The attackers forced their way into the premises of the news channel, wrecked property and tried to intimidate reporters. Although no one has reported any major injuries yet, a few employees were traumatised by the incident.
The attack is seen to be connected with Mahaa TV's trenchant reporting on the BRS leadership over the last few days. While the identities of the attackers are yet to be officially ascertained, eyewitnesses and workers stated that they were familiar sympathisers of the BRS.
Denouncing the attack, press organisations and opposition parties alleged the BRS is trying to gag the press. Telangana journalists have called it to be an attack on freedom of the press.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party leader, has taken to X to condemn the attack. He held BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s son KT Rama Rao responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police have started an investigation into the attack. Security around the Mahaa TV office has been beefed up to avert further disturbance.
