The six Jiribam abductees, victims of alleged militant brutality, were found in the Jiri and Barak Rivers in charred condition.

Gruesome details have emerged from the autopsy reports of three hostages killed in Jiribam, Manipur, allegedly by Kuki militants.

Among the victims were two women and a child, whose bodies bore evidence of severe trauma and gunshot injuries, leaving the Meitei community anguished and demanding justice.

Two-year-old Laishram Chingkhei Nganba Singh suffered horrific injuries, including a gunshot to the face, stab wounds to the chest and hand, and a broken left forearm.

His right eye was missing, and blunt and sharp instruments had inflicted wounds to his face, scalp, and chest wall.

The autopsy of 25-year-old Laishram Heitombi Devi revealed she was shot three times in the back of her chest and once in the buttocks, with the bullets fatally damaging her heart, lungs, and ribs.

Sixty-eight-year-old Yurembam Rani Devi sustained five gunshot wounds, one to the skull, two to the chest, and others to the abdomen and arm.

The victims, part of a group of six hostages abducted on 11 November from relief camps in Jiribam’s Borobekra area, were discovered in the Jiri River in Manipur and the Barak River in Assam’s Cachar district.

The Manipur government has attributed the premeditated killings to "Kuki militants," while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the case.

The remaining three victims—an infant, a woman, and an eight-year-old girl—are still awaiting autopsy confirmation.

Public outrage has been widespread, with protests demanding justice for the victims and the safe release of hostages.

The incident has cast a shadow over the state’s already fragile situation, with civil society organisations and leaders urging swift action to prevent further violence.

The last rites of nine individuals, including three women and three children from the Meitei community, were conducted under heavy security in Jiribam district, Manipur, on Friday.
