Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat is all set to hold a rally at East Burdwan on February 16, after Calcutta High Court on Friday granted the permission to Bhagwat to hold public meeting at Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex.
The Mamata Banerjee-led government had raised objection at the event on grounds that the use of loudspeakers during exams would cause disturbance to examinees.
Setting aside objections of the West Bengal government, the Calcutta High Court has granted conditional permission to RSS to hold a rally.
The bench of Justice Amrita Sinha granted permission to the rally, provided the organisers kept a check on the strength of the attending crowd as well as on the volume of the loudspeakers.

According to the petitioner, instead of loudspeakers sound boxes will be used so that the sound gets limited within the venue where the event will be held.
While the petitioner also argued that there weren’t any schools in close proximity to the rally venue, the bench observed that there weren’t any exams scheduled on Sunday, the day of the proposed rally.
The Centre’s deputy solicitor general Dhiraj Trivedi, appearing as a lawyer for the RSS said in the court that they had already received permission of the ground where the programme will be held and also that they have informed police as Bhagwat has Z-plus security.
