Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, along with BJP MPs, MLAs, and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, met Union Ministers Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari in Delhi on Thursday. The delegation requested Central assistance for rebuilding infrastructure badly damaged by heavy monsoon rains in Himachal Pradesh.
Nadda was joined by Leader of Opposition and former CM Jai Ram Thakur, state BJP chief Rajeev Bindal, and MPs including Anurag Thakur, Suresh Kashyap, Rajeev Bhardwaj, Kangana Ranaut, Indu Goswami, Sikander Kumar, and Harsh Mahajan. Himachal BJP MLAs Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj, and Deep Raj were also part of the team.
Nadda, who had recently visited flood-hit areas in Mandi and Kullu on July 7, shared ground-level updates with Shah and informed him about the destruction caused by heavy rain on June 30. Shah assured the delegation that the Centre would provide all possible support.
The delegation also met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and urged him to release funds for repairing roads and bridges. Gadkari promised that road restoration work would be taken up on priority.
The BJP team included MPs Anurag Thakur, Suresh Kashyap, Rajeev Bhardwaj, Kangana Ranaut, Indu Goswami, Sikander Kumar, and Harsh Mahajan. State BJP chief Rajeev Bindal and MLAs Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj, and Deep Raj were also part of the group.
This meeting follows appeals by Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Congress leaders who urged BJP representatives to raise the state’s concerns with the Centre.
Massive destruction has occurred in Mandi district, especially in the Seraj, Nachan, and Karsog areas, due to a series of cloudbursts and flashfloods. Roads, bridges, water supply lines, and power infrastructure have been severely damaged. Over 1,000 homes have also been completely destroyed, particularly in Seraj, the constituency of former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur.
