BJP govt launches statewide ‘mega camps’ in Bengal

The camps will function as a one-stop platform, offering access to a wide range of state and central government schemes. Citizens will be able to register afresh for key welfare programmes, including the Annapurna Yojana, Yubashakti Prakalpa, widow pension schemes, the PM Kisan Yojana, and old-age pensions.

BJP-led West Bengal government under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is set to roll out a three-day statewide public service initiative beginning June 15.

In a move echoing the outreach model of the previous regime, the BJP-led West Bengal government under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is set to roll out a three-day statewide public service initiative beginning June 15. The programme aims to bring essential government services directly to citizens through special camps organised at the block level.

According to sources at Nabanna, these camps — scheduled for June 15, 16, and 17 — mark the first large-scale administrative outreach effort by the new government since assuming office. The initiative closely follows the framework of the Duare Sarkar (government at doorstep) scheme introduced during the Trinamool Congress tenure, reflecting continuity in the model of doorstep governance despite a change in political leadership.

In addition to new registrations, the camps will also assist individuals in correcting errors in important documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter identity cards. Officials will be present on-site to guide citizens through form-filling processes and provide detailed information about various schemes— addressing a long-standing challenge faced by many beneficiaries.

Importantly, the initiative will also serve as a grievance redressal platform. Citizens will have the opportunity to lodge complaints regarding delays, denial of services, or other administrative issues directly with officials.

Political observers view this outreach as a significant early move by the Adhikari government, drawing parallels with governance models associated with leaders like Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath, where large-scale public service drives are used to reinforce administrative accessibility and efficiency.

District administrations have been instructed to ensure full preparedness for the camps, with an emphasis on inclusivity so that no eligible citizen is left out due to lack of awareness or bureaucratic barriers.
