BJP MP Anurag Thakur has instructed the Forest Department to initiate an awareness campaign with the help of self-help groups to prevent fires ahead of the dry season.
The directive was issued during a review meeting on Saturday, where Thakur assessed the progress of development initiatives in the district under the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha).
During the meeting, the former Union minister emphasised that delays in development projects often arise from departmental inefficiencies. "It was important to move beyond mere paperwork achievements and ensure tangible outcomes on the ground." Thakur stated.
He also called for special attention to be given to water scarcity in rural areas during the summer months. He instructed the Rural Development and Jal Shakti departments to prepare action plans to guarantee an uninterrupted water supply to vulnerable areas.
In addition, Thakur addressed issues on the AIIMS Bilaspur campus, directing officials to resolve parking and drainage concerns. He also requested expedited land identification for establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya for children of AIIMS staff and doctors.
The MP further urged railway officials to address complaints related to structural damages caused by ongoing expansion work. The review meeting was attended by local MLAs Randhir Sharma, J.R. Katwal, and Trilok Jamwal.
