Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee president Tariq Hamid Karra on Friday said the demand for restoration of Article 370 was not mentioned in the resolution passed by the J&K assembly, nor was it raised there.
Karra said that the party has already made its stand clear during the resolution passed by the legislative assembly.
He was quoted by the local media outlets saying, “We have already said that the only thing left to demand after the Supreme Court verdict on Article 370 is statehood.”
Karra, who during the recently concluded assembly elections, won the central Shalteng seat, said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is misrepresenting the facts for their political gains.
The star campaigners of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the upcoming Maharashtra state elections, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are constantly raising the Article 370 issue.
PM Modi while addressing a gathering said that Congress and its allies are hatching a scheme to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Home Minister Amit Shah also said that even if three generations of Congress came back, they wouldn’t be able to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Karra also said, “Despite our clear-cut statement, the BJP is misrepresenting facts in elections.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the recent statements made by the BJP leadership, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has asked the BJP to provide evidence about the said claims.
