BSF intercepts 2 Pakistani drones carrying heroin in Amritsar.

In another successful counter-drone operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday afternoon intercepted and recovered two drones loaded with narcotics along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Amritsar district.

According to an official press release by the BSF, technical countermeasures deployed along the border helped detect and neutralise two drones that were later recovered by alert BSF personnel. The incident took place near the village of Dhanoe Kalan in Amritsar. The recovered items include two DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones and two packets of heroin, with a combined gross weight of 1.130 kilograms.

The BSF noted that the operation highlighted the effectiveness of advanced surveillance systems and the vigilance of security forces in thwarting cross-border smuggling attempts. “These successful recoveries of drones with narcotics highlight the perfect combination of robust technical countermeasures and alert BSF troops deployed on borders, who are committed to decimate nefarious designs of cross-border Pakistani drug syndicate,” the statement read.

This operation comes just two days after two other major recoveries were made by the BSF in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Sunday. In the early hours of Sunday, BSF troops conducted a search operation in a waterlogged paddy field near the village of Wan, which led to the recovery of a packet containing the upper body of a pistol, four magazines, a torch, and an iron ring. The items were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape.

Later that morning, acting on specific intelligence, the BSF, in coordination with the Punjab Police, carried out a joint search operation in a farming field near the village of Shekhpura in Tarn Taran. One DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone carrying a sizable heroin packet weighing 3.700 kg gross was recovered as a result of the operation. Yellow adhesive tape and a metal ring were used to attach the drug packet to the drone.

The BSF said that these measures once again stopped Pakistani smugglers from bringing weapons and drugs into Indian territory, and it praised the precision of intelligence inputs and the prompt, well-coordinated response by its personnel.
