A 650-page chargesheet in the Kolkata law college rape case has revealed chilling details of blackmail and premeditation, police said. The main accused filmed the victim through a hole in an exhaust fan, later using the material to threaten her. DNA evidence has confirmed the assault, and forensic samples matched the accused, according to investigators.
The first-year student was allegedly gang-raped on June 25 on the South Calcutta Law College campus by Manojit Mishra, the prime accused and an alumnus, along with co-accused Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee. Security guard Pinaki Banerjee has also been named in the chargesheet, making a total of four accused.
CCTV footage shows the accused dragging and holding the victim hostage. Police also recovered multiple obscene videos from the mobile phones of the other accused. “These videos were made by the accused from the hole of the exhaust fan installed in the wall,” the chargesheet said.

Voice samples from the videos matched the accused, while mobile location data placed them at the crime scene during the incident.
The chargesheet further accused the security guard of locking the guard room instead of alerting police or others nearby.
Manojit Mishra had previously been arrested eight times but was repeatedly bailed out by friends. He had been working as temporary staff at the college since 2024 but was subsequently dismissed. Ahmed and Mukherjee, both students of the institute, were expelled following the incident.
