The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand Police on Thursday intensified its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) 14th Civil Services Examination by conducting a raid at the residence of former JPSC Chairman and former Jharkhand Chief Secretary L. Khyangte in Ranchi.

 

A CID team, accompanied by police personnel, reached Khyangte's residence and began examining documents and records related to the functioning of the Commission.

 

Officials scrutinised several files and other materials during the search. However, no official statement has yet been issued regarding any documents or evidence seized during the operation.

 

The raid comes amid an expanding investigation into allegations of malpractice and procedural irregularities in the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination. The CID had registered an FIR on Wednesday and formally initiated its probe by registering a case.

Investigators have so far arrested five persons including the examination controller and an four outsourcing company employees in connection with the case.

 

The probe is also widening to examine the role of officials, employees and other individuals associated with the conduct of the examination.

 

The search at the residence of the former JPSC chairman marks a significant development in the high-profile examination controversy, which has drawn widespread attention across the state.

 

Investigators are expected to analyse the documents collected during the raid as they continue to piece together the sequence of events surrounding the alleged irregularities. Officials indicated that further action could follow depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
