The Chandigarh Police recently took custody of two prime suspects in the November 26 Sector 26 bomb blast case. Vinay, aged 20, and Ajit Sehrawat, 21, were brought before the court after being caught in an encounter near Hisar.
Both individuals are believed to be aides of notorious gangsters Kala Jathedi and Goldy Brar. The court remanded them into six-day police custody for further investigation.
Authorities are focused on uncovering the entire network behind the attack. A police official mentioned that the interrogation of the two accused would be crucial in revealing the full extent of the conspiracy, including identifying those who supplied the weapons and crude bombs used in the attack. The blasts took place outside two bars in Sector 26, creating widespread panic.
In addition to the main suspects, investigators are working to identify others involved in planning and executing the blasts.
Police are particularly interested in understanding how the explosives and weapons were procured and who was responsible for coordinating the operation. This ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the broader criminal network associated with the attack.
The investigation has revealed that gangster Randeep Malik played a significant role in orchestrating the blasts. Malik allegedly directed the accused to various locations for collecting explosives and weapons.
According to the police, the motivation behind the attacks stemmed from personal enmity, orchestrated by Malik who is believed to have facilitated the attack by providing all the necessary resources.
In a related development, the accused are said to have been paid in advance for their role in the attack, with promises of being settled abroad. Police suspect that the aim of the bombing was not only to create fear but also to extort money.
This operation is believed to have been carried out with the approval of Goldy Brar, a designated terrorist. It is also alleged that Malik instructed the accused to switch off their phones during the attack and flee to Hisar and later to Rajasthan to avoid detection.
Further investigation into the case has revealed that the pistols used in the attack were sourced from Sahil, a man from Petwar village in Hisar, who is currently in Jind jail for a murder charge. Police are now seeking Sahil’s remand in connection with the bombings.
The pistols were handed over in a village near Rohtak, while the crude bombs were procured from Karnal, where they were delivered to the accused in a packet.
The police believe that the bombs were intended to instil fear and send a message of extortion, aligning with the pattern of violence seen in the activities of organised criminal gangs.
The blasts targeted the Seville Bar Lounge, owned by the popular Punjabi rapper Badshah, and the De’Orra Dance Bar, located just 30 metres away. Both explosions occurred between 3:15 am and 3:30 am on November 26.
Randeep Malik, who has a criminal history, including charges of assault and intimidation, is a key figure in the criminal network. He was reportedly involved in recruiting young individuals from areas like Hisar and Bhiwani into the gang.
Malik, who reportedly moved to the United States in 2015, has now become a central figure in this investigation, and police are working on piecing together his role in the broader conspiracy.
The police’s primary objective now is to identify all individuals involved, dismantle the network, and ensure that justice is served for those affected by the attacks.
As part of the investigation, officials are also looking to track down individuals who helped facilitate the supply chain for both the weapons and the explosives, which were used to carry out the attack.
