A youth raped a fifth-grade student in Kolaghat, West Midnapore, after finding her alone at home on Tuesday evening. The minor was hospitalised after the doctors found that the victim underwent deeply disturbing torture as the accused inserted a fork into her private parts while committing the crime.
Police arrested the accused, Sheikh Momtaz, who is a resident of the neighbouring area where the incident took place.
Police said Momtaz had been harassing the victim’s elder sister, who is also a minor studying in Class VIII, for a long time. “Momtaz proposed her several times but the girl turned down his proposal every time,” said a police officer.
“The guardians sent the family’s elder daughter her to her uncle's house to keep her safe. The victim’s parents alleged that Momtaz committed the barbaric act as he wanted to take revenge of the refusal by the elder daughter of the family. The girl's younger sister was home at the time. Allegedly, the accused raped her by threatening her with a knife.
