Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting through video conferencing on Tuesday from his residence. The meeting was called in view of the recent political developments in neighbouring Nepal.

Officials from the district administrations of Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar, along with officers of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the state police attended the meeting. The overall security situation along the state’s international border with Nepal was discussed in detail.

CM Dhami instructed officials to carry out intensive checking drives along the Nepal border and to keep a strict watch on the movements of any anti-social or disruptive elements. He also directed that social media should be continuously monitored to stop the spread of rumours, fake information or provocative messages, and quick action should be taken wherever needed.

The Chief Minister told the district administrations to maintain close coordination with central security agencies and the SSB. He said surveillance must be strengthened with the active participation of local villagers, gram committees, police personnel and forest officials in the border areas.

He further directed that all entry points along the border should be checked regularly and special care should be taken to monitor cross-border movement. He also ordered strict compliance with the security guidelines issued by the Government of India and called for additional forces to be deployed wherever required.

The meeting also covered several related issues such as security challenges in the border areas, the importance of involving the local community, strengthening intelligence networks and working in close coordination with central agencies.

The high-level review was attended by the State Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, the Principal Secretary (Home), the ADG Law and Order, the ADG Intelligence, the Kumaon Commissioner, the IG Kumaon Range, and the District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police and SSB officers from Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar.
