CM Naidu vows more coaching centres for SC/ST students

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has congratulated 55 Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students from state-run social welfare residential schools who secured seats in national-level institutions this year. The students, who will be attending IITs, NITs, and medical colleges through NEET, met Naidu at the Secretariat to thank him for the government’s support.

 

In a statement, Naidu lauded their achievement, noting that they had studied in "social welfare gurukul schools and achieved success in IIT, NIT and NEET this year." He urged the students to continue to work hard to excel in their higher studies and bring glory to the state and the nation.

Of the 356 students who received training at Dr BR Ambedkar IIT-NEET centres in Kurnool, NTR, and Guntur, 129 qualified in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and 143 in NEET. This year, 12 students secured places in IITs, 30 in NITs, and 13 in MBBS, with 20 of the students being girls. Another 14 are expected to secure BDS seats, while 19 gained admission to government-funded technical institutions (GFTIs) and central universities.

 

Naidu directed officials to establish seven additional IIT-NEET coaching centres this year to benefit a total of 1,411 SC and ST students. He set a target of quadrupling the number of qualifiers next year. He also presented the 55 students with mementos and cheques for ₹1 lakh each.
